Signs You Might Be Weird
Signs that you might be weird (as seen through your child’s eyes): You go to Open House at school You talk to your kids’ friends They actually like you and say you are “nice” You ask about their day and want to know how they are feeling, doing, etc. You like your offspring to be clean and not smelly
You advocate daily bathing You make them wear pants/shirts that provide coverage You lay claim to money found in the washer/dryer because you are sick of “empty your pockets” reminders You are happy sometimes and may say “hello” to people rather than glance and grunt You tape your passwords to your computer, write out reminders, make lists, etc. because you have more than yourself to keep track of You know the words to songs that are really old remakes and you have the audacity to sing them Every move you make, every breath you take is calculated to embarrass them in some inexplicable way You get some sick type of satisfaction when this happens You walk with (meaning “next to”) them in public You cry when looking at old photos as they remind you of the good old days before they could talk You cry when looking at phone bills and reminisce about the good old days before they could talk You cry when cleaning and find old toys, trinkets or other assorted vestiges of their childhood You make them homemade cookies and send them to college decorated with one of the aforementioned sentimental trinkets You are perfectly comfortable being called “weird” ----- Mary Fagan has an M.S. in Education and is the mother of three children with the gray hairs to prove it. She is unabashedly "weird" in the eyes of her offspring.
